Native to South Africa about 33 species in total. The species are known as ‘ Tiger Jaws’. They are small plants with thick triangular leaves. On the edges of the leaves, there are upright teeth in opposite pairs that look like an animal mouth. The plants are light green to light blue-green in a colour that can turn purple if exposed to strong sunshine. They form clumps of stemless rosettes.
Flowers are golden yellow and white even pink.
Condition and Care
Spring growers need good drainage but with a little shade. Water sparingly and can stand little frost.
