Most of the species are from India, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Canary Islands, Afghanistan and Southern Europe. About 120 species is in the family.
It has many uses such as hungry, weight loss and in India it is cooked as a vegetable and is used in preserves such as chutneys and pickles. It is also eaten raw.
Most are small shrub, upright and branching species. Requires filtered sun to full sun in winter. Summer growers. Regularly watering in Summer less in Winter. Ideal pots is shallow pots or grow well in the garden.
